In 2019, Costa Rica imported goods worth $ 16.1 billion. The top imported product to Costa Rica in 2019 (9.69%) was commodity group 2710 "Petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, other than crude; preparations not elsewhere specified or included, containing by weight 70 % or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the preparations; waste oils." - the value of imports of this category was equal to 1.56 billion USD.
