In 2019, Tunisia imported goods worth $ 21 billion. The top imported product to Tunisia in 2019 (9.07%) was commodity group 2710 "Petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, other than crude; preparations not elsewhere specified or included, containing by weight 70 % or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the preparations; waste oils." - the value of imports of this category was equal to 1.95 billion USD.

Also, structure of Imports to Tunisia in 2019 includes the following principal commodities:

  • 6.9% ($ 1.48 billion) - 2711 - Petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons.
  • 2.83% ($ 611 million) - 8703 - Motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than those of heading 87.02), including station wagons and racing cars.
  • 2.35% ($ 508 million) - 8536 - Electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits, or for making connections to or in electrical circuits (for example, switches, relays, fuses, surge suppressors, plugs, sockets, lamp-holders, junction boxes), for a voltage not exceeding 1,000 volts.
  • 2.12% ($ 459 million) - 1001 - Wheat and meslin.
  • 1.93% ($ 417 million) - 8544 - Insulated (including enamelled or anodised) wire, cable (including co-axial cable) and other insulated electric conductors, whether or not fitted with connectors; optical fibre cables, made up of individually sheathed fibres, whether or not assembled with electric conductors or fitted with connectors.
  • 1.92% ($ 416 million) - 8542 - Electronic integrated circuits and microassemblies.
  • 1.44% ($ 311 million) - 5209 - Woven fabrics of cotton, containing 85 % or more by weight of cotton, weighing more than 200 g/m2.
  • 1.41% ($ 304 million) - 7408 - Copper wire.
  • 1.27% ($ 275 million) - 3926 - Other articles of plastics and articles of other materials of headings 39.01 to 39.14.
